Crime comics typically focus on the interaction between police and justice authorities and criminals including thieves and murderers. The stories are realistic in terms of character and setting, and may focus narrowly on individuals, or have a broad scope such as in a story involving the mafia or other crime syndicate.
Historical comics treat actual events and persons, commonly through the experience, interpretation, or creative lens of the author. This genre occasionally overlaps with autobiographical graphic novels.
